In June 2009, Sandi and Holley were invited to a Stampin’ Up! card workshop, where they first discovered their passion for inks, paper and stamps. Who knew that within one afternoon, something as simple as making your own card could have such wonderfully crafty consequences?! Although Sandi had made her fair share of scrapbook pages in the past, Holley hadn’t glued two pieces of paper together since kindergarten. From that point, they joined a monthly Stamp club, which only further served to cultivate their creative personalities and feed their burgeoning obsession with the Stampin’ Up! products. It was only a matter of time before they came to the conclusion that due to their love of the products and the craft itself, it only seemed natural that they should become demonstrators. And of that conviction, that Stampin’ Divas were born.
Anyone who knows me, knows I have been doing various crafts pretty much my whole adult life; indeed, I have the craft room to show for it. You name it, I’ve probably tried it, but nothing has sparked in me the desire to share this creative knowledge with others as much as card-making has. This particular craft makes it possible for others to recognize their own creative abilities, and that, quite simply, makes me happy. Throughout my crafting experiences I’ve come across various products from multiple companies, and none have impressed me with their quality and range like Stampin’ Up! has. For me, being able to combine my passion for crafting with a quality product, and the company of friends is what being a Stampin’ Diva is all about.
As mentioned before, I never considered myself crafty… well, at least not in the artistic sense, haha. But, being home on maternity leave for a year had brought something out of me (besides my 9lb, 9oz son), and I was eager to explore this new element. For me, the making of cards was a relaxing way to have some “child-free-me-time” that always produced something I could be proud of, while also taking me back to the simpler times of colouring books and glue sticks. Having never really had a hobby before, the Stampin’ Up! line of products made it easy for me to get excited about this new venture and all the possibilities it presented.
UPDATE: With the arrival of her second son in October 2012, Holley has decided to take some time away from being a Demonstrator. However, she can still be found sitting at her craft table making beautiful cards whenever she gets a spare moment (few and far between).
The Stampin’ Divas currently both reside in beautiful Chelsea, Quebec with their loving families, wonderful friends, and crazy dogs. And one crazy fat cat.
